We believe that in one single verse, the poet says more about our olive trees than anything we could write here, however knowledgeable.

Because… does it matter wthat the olive tree was first discovered growing in Asia Minor 8,000 years ago? Does it matter which people passed it on the other people: Greeks, Spanish, Phoenicians…?

The olive tree, the olive and its oil are legend, religion, history and nutrition… but above all they are Mediterranean!

In the Mare Nostrum,” a land which the olive tree has possessed, the land of fertile Andalusia. A land whose olive and oil are known throughout the world for their natural and pure origin, and for their flavor which adds distinction to any cuisine.

The cultivation of the olive began approximately 6,000 years ago, in the times of the Roman Empire. Andalucia became the largest supplier of olive oil due to the fact that the quality of the oil was considered unbeatable. The oil was distributed in clay amphoras by Greek and Phoenician tradesmen.

Antonio Carbonell started to make olive oil in Cordoba in 1866. The olive oil was sold locally at first until remarkably, the company won a contract to supply the English Admiralty.
